A new model and heuristic for a multi-period inventory-routing problem

چکیده
The need for integration in supply chain management leads us to consider the coordination of two logistic planning functions: transportation and inventory. The coordination of these activities can be an extremely important source of competitive advantage in supply chain management. The battle for cost reduction can involve finding the equilibrium between transportation and inventory management costs. The problem that considers Vehicle Routing (VR) and Inventory Management (IM) decisions together is known as the Inventory Routing Problem (IRP). The main objective in the IRP is to design the set of routes and decide the delivered quantities that minimize transportation cost while controlling the inventory costs. Considering these two problems in an integrated manner can reduce total costs. In this work, we study a specific case of an inventory-routing problem with weekly planning for different types of demand. We propose a Multi-Period IRP with customer that face two types of demand: stochastic and deterministic (MPIRP-SDD). The objective is to plan the deliveries for a week period and they routes that will make these deliveries. A heuristic methodology based on the Iterated Local Search is proposed to solve the Multi-Period Inventory Routing Problem with stochastic and deterministic demand. We also present some computational results and finally we draw some conclusions and further research.

Solving a New Multi-objective Inventory-Routing Problem by a Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm
This paper considers a multi-period, multi-product inventory-routing problem in a two-level supply chain consisting of a distributor and a set of customers. This problem is modeled with the aim of minimizing bi-objectives, namely the total system cost (including startup, distribution and maintenance costs) and risk-based transportation. Products are delivered to customers by some heterogeneous ...
متن کاملConsidering Production Planning in the Multi-period Inventory Routing Problem with Transshipment between Retailers
Generally, the inventory routing problem occurs in a supply chain where customers consider the supplier responsible for inventory replenishment. In this situation, the supplier finds the answer to questions regarding the time and quantity of delivery to the customer as well as the sequence of customers in the routes. Considering the effect of production decisions on answering these questions, t...
متن کاملA Two-Phase Hybrid Heuristic Method for a Multi-Depot Inventory-Routing Problem
In this study, a two phase hybrid heuristic approach was proposed to solve the multi-depot multi-vehicle inventory routing problem (MDMVIRP). Inventory routing problem (IRP) is one of the major issues in the supply chain networks that arise in the context of vendor managed systems (VMI) The MDMVIRP combines inventory management and routing decision. We are given on input a fleet of homogeneous ...

One of the most important points in a supply chain is customer-driven modeling, which reduces the bullwhip effect in the supply chain, as well as the costs of investment on the inventory and efficient transshipment of the products. Their homogeneity is reflected in the Inventory Routing Problem, which is a combination of distribution and inventory management. This paper expands the classical In...
متن کاملModel and Solution Approach for Multi objective-multi commodity Capacitated Arc Routing Problem with Fuzzy Demand
The capacitated arc routing problem (CARP) is one of the most important routing problems with many applications in real world situations. In some real applications such as urban waste collection and etc., decision makers have to consider more than one objective and investigate the problem under uncertain situations where required edges have demand for more than one type of commodity. So, in thi...

An integrated model considers all parameters and elements of different deficiencies in one problem. This paper presents a new integrated model of a supply chain that simultaneously considers facility location, vehicle routing and inventory control problems as well as their interactions in one problem, called location-routing-inventory (LRI) problem. This model also considers stochastic demands ...
